We coach on Lake Minnehaha a 2,298 acre lake on the Clermont Chain of lakes. It has some of the most pristine, picturesque lakes found in Florida. It’s no wonder that some of the best water sports are enjoyed here. This chain of 13 connected lakes originates in the Green Swamp and flows north to the St. John’s River. The lakes offer residents the opportunity for excellent fishing, boating, swimming, wakeboarding, and the pleasure of viewing magnificent sunrises and sunsets from atop one of the many hills surrounding the lakes. |

Cypress trees and maidencane grass beds make up much of the visible bassy cover to be found here. The lakes average 12-14ft deep and provide excellent deep water fishing. Fish attractors (sunken trees) and dredge holes (deep holes usually found near shoreline development) can be very productive. Some of the best largemouth bass fishing in the world is but a cast away. Speckled perch, catfish and other fish varieties can be found in plentiful supply.
Whooping Cranes, Great Blue Herons, osprey and snowy-white egrets all are seen along the Clermont Chain of Lakes.
All lakes in the Clermont chain are spring-fed and include Lake Minneola, Lake Minnehaha, Lake Winona, Crooked River Preserve, Lake Louisa, Lake Palatakaha, Lake Hiawatha, Wilson Lake, Lake Susan, Lake Crescent, Cook Lake and Cherry Lake.
For the water-sports enthusiast, the Clermont lakes are the place to be. Throughout the water skiing community, Clermont is known as the "Wakeboarding capital of the world." |
